1. Brief
Replacement shop facades. Single and two storey rear extension.

2. Challenges
The shops are within a Conservation Area, in a prominent location of Chislehurst High Street, requiring a sensitive design solution.

3. Goals
To enhance the character of the High Street, while achieving maximum GIA increase to the rear. To achieve a modern response to complement the Victorian mews, with ample sunlight and outside seating areas.

4. Unique Solution
The staircase to the rear with glass curtain walling allows more light to reach into the ground floor. The first floor extension has roof lanterns in the flat roof and bifold doors onto a terrace balcony, giving a light and open

Sustainability
South facing glazing increases the solar gains, reducing the need for heating. All the bricks are reclaimed bricks.
